Dr Javier Torres is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Director of Medical Oncology at Goulburn Valley Health as well as Clinical Director of the West Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Services.
He completed his basic physician training at Western Health, Melbourne, followed by a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Care at St Vincents Hospital, befor undertaking advanced training in Medical Oncology.

Dr Torres has a strong clinical and research interest in urogenital such as prostate, lung and breast cancer, with a focus on expanding access to clinical trials and novel therapies for patients in regional communities.
He maintains close collaborations with metropolitan oncology centres to ensure equity of care and treatment opportunities. He is deeply committed to close the gap between regional and metropolitan cancer services. Most recently he has been awarded both an MRFF grant and a Cancer Australia grant to support his work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

He is a senior lecturer for the Shepparton School of Medicine, University of Melbourne. Authorship of over twenty abstracts / peer-reviewed medical and research publications.
He believes in personalised medicine and the use of genomics and genetics diagnosis tools to achiever the best outcomes.
