Clinical Practice

Prof Mayank Bhandari is a Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon with expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas. He also performs hernia surgery and a broad range of general surgical procedures. Committed to patient-centred care, Prof Bhandari works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, evidence-based treatment and is highly experienced in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques that support enhanced recovery and patient outcomes. Prof Bhandari holds public appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital and operates privately at Hollywood Private Hospital. He welcomes referrals for liver tumours and lesions, pancreatic tumours and cysts, gallbladder and biliary disease, pancreatitis, gallstones, hernias, complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic conditions, and a wide range of general surgical concerns requiring specialist assessment and management. 

 

Education and Training

After completing his surgical training and specialist qualifications in India, Prof Bhandari migrated to Australia in 2004. He subsequently completed a PhD in Pancreatology at Flinders University and Fellowship training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was awarded the prestigious Paul McMaster Fellowship and undertook advanced hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, one of the world's leading centres for liver and pancreatic surgery. Prof Bhandari is actively involved in liver and pancreatic cancer research and participates in ongoing clinical trials. He has published extensively in his field and is committed to surgical education as an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University's Medical School.
